What Is The Best Cellulite Treatment To Shift That Stubborn Cellulite
Cellulite is one thing ALL women dread! Unfortunately, cellulite is something that is very common to us, women. In fact, approximately 90% of the female population is likely to develop cellulite as opposed to 10% of the male population. Women usually start to develop this after puberty and it gets worse as we age. Cellulite does not magically happen overnight. This develops over time and occurs when the underlying fat deposits start to push against collagen fibers and tissues under our skin. That’s when we start seeing dimples in our thighs and buttocks that weren’t there before, giving our skin a dimpled and lumpy appearance (most people liken it to the “orange-peel” effect i.e. lumps and bumps).
Unfortunate as it may seem, chances of occurrence and development of cellulite increase with age along with hormonal changes and decreasing estrogen levels in women. As we age, collagen production slows down causing skin thinning and blood circulation gets poor and inadequate leading to the dreaded “cottage cheese” legs for women. So we start to growl with horror, blame DNA if not our parents, and lament for this horrific fate bestowed upon our body!
Freak out not ladies! Yes, it can be a little unappealing, but it’s not the end of the world, or rather, it doesn’t mean there is no cellulite treatment available or ways at least to get rid of it and prevent it from occurring. There are, in fact, a lot of cosmetic cellulite treatments and products that offer solutions to this women’s bane. However, I prefer dealing with cellulite the natural and healthy way. I am more interested in sharing with you a cellulite treatment in the form of lifestyle changes that will not only prevent cellulite but will for most, reduce and get rid of cellulite completely in a healthy way.
Here are some tips to reduce, get rid of, and prevent it through a cellulite treatment that is both safe and healthy:
-
Build muscles.
Build muscles in areas you are most conscious of and where cellulite is more likely to occur and develop (upper thighs, glutes, hamstrings, and quads). Lean muscle mass will definitely decrease the appearance of cellulite in these body parts. Also, make sure you’re constantly moving or active. Sitting behind a desk all day is one big contributing factor to developing cellulite. Take a break every hour by standing up stretching your legs, and doing a bit of walking. Better yet, get a standing desk as this actually burns calories whereas sitting down for long periods of time contributes to bad posture, weight gain and eventually, cellulite development.
-
Do HIIT those fats.
High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is the BEST form of cardio training out there! It blasts fats, it is intense, and requires 100% of your energy but only for short bursts of time. With those fats blasted, there is nothing to deposit underneath your skin.
-
Clean up your eating habits.
Eating junk foods or take-outs is one big culprit of cellulite development. We don’t just sweat through the skin, it is also where most of our toxins are released. Processed foods are highly toxic to the body and the body will have no choice but to store these toxic fats into our fat cells, which in turn worsens cellulite. Get rid of processed foods and refined sugars and carbohydrates from your diet and consume whole foods and grains (good quality protein, quinoa), good fats (avocadoes, coconut oil, olive oil) and super-fruits (berries, cherries) instead. Don’t forget to include leafy vegs as well like kale, spinach and kelp (lots and lots of it) which assist with losing body fats.
-
STOP yo-yo dieting.
Yo-Yo dieting is such a common disaster. Continuously stopping and starting fad diets puts your body under extreme stress. Erratic weight gain and weight loss also add stretch marks, as our skin was never designed to expand and contract with weight gain and loss. So quitting the “new diet of the season” is an instant cellulite treatment!
-
Sort your gut out.
Inflammation of the gut due to stress, improper nutrition, and lack of exercise can worsen cellulite. Too many refined carbohydrates in your diet is a no-no as this is one of the biggest contributors to weight gain and body fats. Ensure that you eat plenty of vegetables every day and that you have proper supplementation with good quality vitamins and amino acids.
-
Hydrate yourself.
The human body is composed mostly of water, so it makes sense that dehydration wreaks havoc with the body and brain function. Drinking plenty of water releases toxins from the body, aids digestion, and flushes out the system. So make sure you drink at least 2 liters of water a day (approximately 8 glasses of water a day).
-
Get your hormones in check.
Hormones play a huge role in our stress levels, weight gain, and cellulite development. As we age, production of Estrogen and collagen decreases which leads to reduced blood circulation and skin thinning. Ensure that your hormone levels are within the normal limits and have it checked especially if you are feeling exhausted and sluggish or experiencing sudden weight gain or loss for no apparent reason.
-
Forgive and accept your genes.
Unfortunately, no matter how much we dodge, genetics will still play its part. There are some physical features that we simply cannot escape, like maybe your father’s feet, simply because it’s in our DNA! If cellulite runs in the family, chances are you will soon get it. BUT, if you do weight training and cardio regularly and follow a healthy lifestyle and diet plan, there is a good chance you may avoid cellulite completely!
-
Reduce alcohol.
Consuming alcohol won’t necessarily cause cellulite, BUT, it can worsen it. Alcohol doesn’t provide any nutrients whatsoever and it has nothing but “empty calories” which means the more you drink the more you will gain weight.
-
Quit smoking.
Cigarettes, to be frank, will kill you. That alone is one big reason enough to quit. If you’re still not convinced, then unlike alcohol, smoking does contribute to cellulite because smoking reduces blood vessel flow and decreases collagen production.
Summary
In summary, cellulite isn’t a death sentence. It may not be pleasing to the eyes when we see it in the mirror but it’s not what defines you as a woman and as a person. Yes, it’s annoying, but it won’t make you a lesser woman. What’s important is to understand that having a perfectly toned, flawless body is not just about you being physically appealing to yourself and others, but rather you being able to take control of your body and health, DNA and all. Allowing that cellulite to occur and develop continually means allowing body fat deposits in every nook, and cranny, and crevices of your body. Stop searching high and low for a miracle cellulite treatment procedure or product and start reassessing your lifestyle, diet, and exercise plan because the most effective cellulite treatment starts with you! I will leave you with a quote that really resonates with me, especially on this particular subject:
